SUPPLY OF 4 SELF-CLEANING SEAWATER FILTERS - SIAM II NEW SENTINEL
At the beginning of 2025, the CBSK (Consorcio Bonatti - ICSK) awarded Capricorn the supply of the 4 self-cleaning seawater filters for the project (652 l/s).
The teamwork carried out by the Capricorn offices in China and Chile ended with the selection, from among the most qualified suppliers, of the most competitive manufacturer with proven international experience to manufacture the equipment. Process that was validated by CBSK with the award of the supply.
The function of these 4 filters is critical to the SIAM II project. In effect, the 4 teams must filter the indicated volumes of seawater at the level of 200 microns, protecting the delicate and powerful pumps that will propel the filtered seawater through 143 kilometers of high-pressure, large-diameter pipes to the mine.
According to the EPC planning, the commissioning will take place in the month of January 2026 with the objective of the project starting in February/March 2026. Capricorn will maintain its presence and support during start-up, as well as during the operating phase, thus ensuring the timely supply of spare parts and technical support.
The 4 devices supplied have been designed and manufactured to operate for 35 years, so their proper maintenance is also a critical element of the supply. Capricorn is proud to have been chosen by CBSK to serve this critical and long-lasting supply for the SIAM II New Sentinel Project.
